I just wanted to give a sign of support to this project because intercultural communication will provide a chance to know more about other cultures and to show about ours to those who are willing to know it …Regards……
Lovely blog! I remember when you mentioned the creation of this blog in class last year… I suppose it will be a completely success. Cultural studies… Having a good knowledge of that opens your mind in a high grade. If you can understand the essence of a culture, it’s going to be easier, for example, to find out the keys to their literature. So, let’s compare! Best wishes
I have just landed on this blog via the link in the e-mail you sent us some hours ago. I am experimenting some problems with youtube.com, I can’t watch youtube videos properly, but I know for sure that I can watch embed youtube videos (“pasted” in a blog like this one for instance). As soon as I can watch the video you reccomend us to see I will comment on it in the blog entry. Best regards, Alejandro (group english prose fiction 8:30-10:00)
I have just read the topic and I want to say that it´s great that there are blogs and websites like that in wich people can change their opinion about different topics.
I think that todays topic is very interesting and in my opinion it´s very intersting to know more about other cultures, becouse this permit us to understand other people and not to think that only our culture is the best and that what other people do is strange. And what is more, I´m from another country and when I came here I saw some things of spanish culture a little bit strange, but while time transcured I begun understanding why people do things that I don´t used to do.
I just wanted to say hello and write for the first time in this blog, which is a great idea. It’s very useful for having more information than the one we get in class.
Hi! I’m one of Asunción’s students, and I’ve been meaning to write here since she talked about this in her class. I think that intercultural studies are a great idea, because they can help open your mind about other cultures. I’ve been living in Belgium for three years, and there I attended an American School, where there were students from different countries, and although I may have not learned a lot about math or history, I sure learned a lot of things about other cultures. It helped me a lot, because it ended with all the stereotypes I had about other countries. Well, all I wanted to say was that I support this project.
Best wishes to all on this new year!
Celia
I just wanted to encourage all of you (although it wont last too much and I know that maybe in these days we´ll be too busy),that until the 20th of this month you can go to “La casa Encendida”, that is in Embajadores and have a look to the exposition about Warhol called “Warhol sobre Warho”. It´s reaaly interesting, mostly everything there are photographies, not only by Warhol but also by some friends of him. There are some paintings and what is called Video-art pieces that are very shocking.
I think is a pity that with all the interesting things to do in Madrid realated with art, such expositions, theatre plays, or any other cultural activity that are in our city; we don´t have only a while to go and enjoy with them…
If you want to know something else about Warhol, you can find out in wikipedia [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andy_warhol], and also about Valerie Solanas, who was the ultra-feminist woman who made an attempt on him, and pushed Warhol tu use a corset for the rest of his life because of the scars; she also wrote “The Scum Manifiesto”, and other works of similar radical characteristics [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valerie_Solanas]. If you are interested on this theme there is a movie by Mary Harron which is called “I shot Andy Warhol”, and shows Solanas´s life, and how she ended trying to kill Warhol [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Shot_Andy_Warhol].
Please take a look and Good luck with the exams!!!
Hi!!
This is the first time I’m writing here and for the moment I only want to give my opinion about the class. I think that Asun is a teacher who gives you every chance to do your work and in class we talk about interesting topics and Asun makes you to reflect on them.
In my opinion, this blog is a good way to ask for some information and solve some doubts.
Im really glad I finally had the chance to read almost everything in this blog. It’s really interesting to get the chance to participate in such an active way in this class. Literature is something we need to talk about and share so we can all understand and appreciate it. I hope I get the time to post a lot of information so it can be use full to any of us. Thanks again for this opportunity
Related to the theme individual vs. society, I think that it could be interesting to pay atention to the relation between Friday and Robinson Crusoe.Robinson needs Friday to have contact with someone and also in order to get things done quickly on the island. I think They both need each other
In the first place, I want to add “欢迎”to this blog ,”huan ying” means welcome in Chinese !!
To talk about english literature, I had no idea at all. In my country,we studied 6 years english in school, a lot of grammar, but nothing at all about English literature. We all know that to master a language, the only way is to read. Years ago, the first time when i read “Pride And Prejudice” I thought I understood most of it,now i realized that it’s not even close!
This weekend the British Library celebrates de 1000 anniversary of Beowulf. There are lots of interesting information at the web site of the event.(http://www.bl.uk/onlinegallery/onlineex/englit/beowulf/) Hope it can be useful.
